A source-citing knowledge assistant for a five-plant group
We designed an enterprise AI assistant that works across procedures, machine manuals and quality records, answers according to each user's permissions, and shows the source document and version in every reply.

Where we started
Five plants held thousands of procedures, machine manuals and quality records. Shift engineers lost time finding the right document, and knowledge lived in senior staff's heads. IT and information security worried about uncontrolled AI use.
What we did
Workshops with shift engineers, quality and maintenance teams at three plants surfaced the most valuable question types; we shaped the interface around real ones, like a press breakdown.
Every answer sits beside its source document, section, page and version tag. The right panel opens the page with the supporting paragraph highlighted, and a value that changed between versions is flagged.
We designed access control as a matrix of roles and document classes. An unauthorised document never enters an answer; each blocked attempt is logged along with who asked what and from which sources.
Enterprise AI APIs were used in zero-retention configurations, and access was tied to corporate SSO. The mobile interface was reduced to quick questions and source reading for use at the machine.
